Directing Pedestrian traffic flow and protecting buildings and pedestrians from vehicles are the primary objectives of the BBRSS-ARMR product, Bollard. What is a Bollard? In short, a bollard is a short post that is can be decorative but used to create a protective or architectural perimeter. However, there is much more to them than that. When installed as a visual guide, bollards act as a guide directing traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian, and mark boundaries. Bollards come in many distinctive shapes and styles designed to accentuate or visually stand out visually. Bollards, when used for physical security, can be constructed to act as a physical barrier to block vehicle incursion, protecting people and property. Security purposed bollards may have decorative elements or be chosen to balance the landscape, but their primary objective is to resist the forces of impact. Bollards are constructed, typically, using metal, stone, cement, or plastic.
Bollards first appeared as a post to attach mooring lines. Eventually, the term extended its definition to include the bollards we have come to know today. Original ornamental bollards were decommissioned cannon barrels, with a cannonball on top to protect against water and debris.
