Vehicle Barriers vs Resistance Barriers for Transportation Projects
2025-09-03
At B&B Roadway, safety meets strength in the form of our newly fabricated HR-7 Horizontal Resistance Barrier. Engineered to stop a 5,000-pound vehicle traveling at 50 mph, the HR-7 delivers serious stopping power while maintaining high visibility for oncoming drivers.
The HR-7 features a 12” square beam outfitted with rubber bumpers along its face and alternating red and white retroreflective sheeting to ensure it stands out in all lighting conditions. Mounted along the top are our C-4 Warning Lights, spaced 5 to 10 feet apart depending on project requirements, helping drivers see the barrier from a distance—day or night.
Typically designed with two interlocking sections that meet at the center of the roadway, the HR-7 seamlessly rotates open when bridge operations call for traffic to resume, swinging horizontally back to the edge of the bridge to clear the way.
This latest HR-7 is headed into the field to join its counterparts already in operation—continuing our mission to provide dependable traffic safety solutions for critical infrastructure across the country.
